Witness In Paris Some: In 1783, while Benjamin Franklin was ambassador at the court of France, he had occasion to witness in Paris some of the first balloon ascents. To skeptics who asked what use a balloon might ever have, Franklin is said to have answered with the question: "What is the use of a newborn baby?"Sometimes the threat to freedom of speech takes the form not of outright prohibition or regulation but of indirect interference.
