The London Stereoscopic: Firms began to specialize in the mass production and world distribution of stereographs. The first of these publishers appears to be The London Stereoscopic Company, founded in 1854 by George Swan Nottage; in the single year 1862 they sold a million views.
They either have been completed in the last year or have planning permission, so together they present a realistic view of future London - a snapshot of the work of contemporary architects.
The 'London Wall' is arranged by London Borough to illustrate how change is affecting local communities as well as the wider metropolis.

The Cosmopolite, manufactured by E. Frangais in Paris in 1889, was sold in England as the Twin Lens Artist Hand Camera by the Stereoscopic Company, which stated its advantages succinctly: "Can be focussed and shows a duplicate of the Picture simultaneously." |
