Shooting In Paris: Your travel pictures will fall almost altogether into two categories, stock pictures and picture stories, and there is more detailed information on how to sell such pictures in later chapters.
Before we drop the subject of travel pictures, it might be well to clarify something which might seem contradictory, the incident mentioned concerning Earl Leaf and his big earnings from one week of shooting in Paris, as set against the later advice to take your time and to learn all about the area to which you travel. You see, Earl Leaf, while waiting for just the right weather for his shooting, spent three months in Paris studying the city.
Getting those lucky shots, shooting at just the right instant from precisely the right viewpoint when something quite unexpected happens, is like trying for a lottery prize. The more pictures you take, the more chances you have of drawing a winner. The man who burns up film shooting everything in sight is bound to come up with more of the so-called lucky shots than the film-conserving photographer who sticks right to the script. However, it should be emphasized that random shooting should by no means be counted upon to insure full coverage of any story. Free shooting, or firing at will, should very definitely be secondary to the more important business of shooting to a carefully planned script.
Audi Shooting Brake: Shooting Brake is an English term describing a car built for wealthy hunters. Southern California may not be a hunter's utopia, but Audi's Shooting Brake concept certainly has all the excitement of the hunt. Its mission is combining the company's Quattro permanent four-wheel drive performance with a high level of roominess and functionality. Advanced technologies in the 250-hp design study include suspension that adapts to road and driving conditions, a touch-screen navigation system and bright LED headlights. The Shooting Brake is making its North American debut at the LA Auto Show. |
