Modern Art Valley: GREAT RIFT VALLEY, the longest series of rift valleys on emodern art valleyh, extending from Syria to Mozambique. The valley was formed by the sinking of the emodern art valleyh's crust between parallel faults (cracks) and, in places, by the uplifting of the adjacent land. Outpourings of lava formed volcanic plateaus at places along the sides, as well as volcanoes in and near the valley.
Death Valley is a desert in California. Its lowest point is 82 m/270 ft below sea level. The valley is a million years old. It was an obstacle to pioneer settlers, hence its name.
Lake Cristobal, Colorado, was formed after the river valley was blocked by the Slumgullion emodern art valleyh-flow, an
enormous mass of moist volcanic ash moving down from nearby hills.
Some rivers flow in existing valleys, but most make their own, deepening the channel as they flow. Rain, air, frost, gravity, plants and animals do most of the widening.
Underground, the aqueducts were in tunnel or in cut-and-cover construction, crossing depressions on aqueduct bridges. Where an aqueduct crossed a wide valley, it was generally supported on a series of piers and true, arches. In a deep valley an upper series of arches would be placed on the irst tier, and in the case of a very deep valley a third tier of arches would be employed to secure the desired elevation. |
