Modern Art Double: Thus Olympiad 293 begins in the middle of A. D. 393 (1172 minus 779). Because the Olympiads began about July 1, double years are used to express entire Olympic years in modern art double dates. If an event in Greek history is known to have occurred in the first or last half of our calendar year, the customary double year used by historians is unnecessary.
Although each city-state in Greece had its own calendar, with its own names for the months and its own time for beginning the calendar year, the structure of all their calendars was the same.These evergreen shrubs are grouped according to flower type: single, semi-double, anemone-form, peony-form, rose-form, formal double, and irregular double. These are produced above glossy green leaves. C. japonica "Alba" has single white flowers with yellow centers; C. j. "Rubescens Major" is a formal double with deep pink flowers; C. j. "Mathotiana" has formal double red-pink flowers, C x williamsii "Donation" is a semi-double with mid-pink flowers; C. x u>. "Clarrie Fawcett" has pale pink, semi-double flowers; and "Anticipation," a peony type, has dark-pink flowers (pictured below).
