From Its Picture Reports: From its picture reports of the weather over half the globe, large-scale storms can be studied and smaller-scale convective systerns over South America are especially well displayed. From a series of ATS pictures, all the meteorologists in South America would be able to track that continent's weather more effectively than by conventional means.
The color photographs from ATS-3 can tell a weatherman the relative heights of different cloud layers, because the lower clouds tend to be bluer than the higher ones. Put together into a strip, the still photographs become a kind of jerky motion picture that can show a weather front crossing a land mass or a hurricane forming in the tropics.

It also reports on some very hopeful developments; on the specific work that is going on throughout the world; and on the sound achievements that are beinng made.
