Fine Art Period: The first important works in tzu forms were written in the age of chaos and despair of the last decades of the T'ang dynasty and the Five Dynasties period. An offspring of the most extravagant years in the T'ang court and society, it first thrived in a period of spiritual ruin, when fainthearted kings and officials, particularly in the south, drugged themselves with exquisitely voluptuous poetry and dolorous music. Men of great talent, such as Li Yii (937-978), last king of the Southern T'ang dynasty (937-975), produced fine art period tzu poems. In the Sung dynasty the tzu became the most distinguished genre.
There is little likelihood that Mars has had a denser atmosphere since the period when its craters were formed, but the possibility of a different atmosphere at a very early period cannot be completely ruled out. Only a trace of water is present in Mars's atmosphere. Its famed polar caps are probably frozen carbon dioxide. However, as on the moon, the possibility of subsurface water cannot be ignored. Windstorms blow across the Martian surface and yellowish clouds have been observed. These appear to consist largely of fine art period dustlike matter.
The Golden Age, the great period of Greek sculpture, is customarily divided into Sth century (450-400 B.C.) and 4th century (400-300 B.C.). Undoubtedly the creations of two of the world's greatest masters, Polyclitus of Argos and Phidias of Athens, determined to a great extent the character of sculpture during the Golden Age. The art of this period is so impressive in its quiet dignity, so reserved in its expression of power, and so measured in its fine art period naturalism, that we have long called its products classic (which means, literally, first-class). |
