Exists In London: Central banks no longer issue gold coins at a fixed statutory price in exchange for bank notes, as they did prior to 1914 in most countries and prior to 1933 in the United States. Nor do they redeem their note and deposit liabilities in gold bullion, as in the mid-1920s. Nations such as the United States, Britain, and the Scandinavian countries do not allow their citizens to hold or trade in gold. A gold market exists in London, but only residents of nonsterling countries can buy gold in London. Most other countries allow the domestic holding of gold and permit free gold markets. But nowhere do central banks deliver gold to their nationals at a fixed price for domestic holding.They either have been completed in the last year or have planning permission, so together they present a realistic view of future London - a snapshot of the work of contemporary architects.
