The two cowls, or sets of cowls, should be located with respect to each other, horizontally and/or vertically, so as to prevent the return of fumes removed from any space to the same or any other space. Intake cowls should be positioned to avoid picking up vapors from fueling operations.
To create a flow through the ducting system, at least when under way or when there is a wind, cowls (scoops) or other fittings of equal effectiveness are needed on all ducts. A wind-actuated rotary exhauster or mechanical blower is equivalent to a cowl on an exhaust duct. |
